March 3, 2023 saw the inauguration meeting of SKHTST TYLP (2022-2023) at our school from 4 pm to 6 pm. Our twenty regular TYLP members were joined by 12 primary students from three different primary schools who volunteered enthusiastically in all<\/span> sections of the meeting and were given souvenirs and certificates at the end of the meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting was honoured to have Mr John POON as the General Evaluator. Mr POON is currently the District 89 Division H Director and the Immediate Past President of Island Toastmasters Club as well as the District 89 Champion in Mandarin Speech in 2021. Accompanying him were long-standing Toastmasters Ms Alice TSE and Ms Mandy LEE. Our alumna coach Ms Constance WONG, SKHTST TYLP member in the past years, gave an interactive Workshop on \u201cShine on Stage,\u201d setting the stage for the coming seven meetings. English teachers Ms Cherlotte LAM and Mr Nathan MARTIN were the Table Topics (Impromptu speech) Evaluator and Prepared Speech Evaluator respectively while our former Vice-principal Mrs Anne TAM was the Language Evaluator. Participants would increasingly take up more roles as evaluators in subsequent meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a learning community, participants volunteered or were assigned different roles such as emcee, speakers of prepared or Table Topics (impromptu) speeches, secretaries of evaluators and facilitators (timer and ah-counter).<\/span><\/p>\n

Our principal Mr Jaxon WANG welcomed the visitors and several English teachers, including the English Panel Chairman Mr Duncan WAI and one of our program\u2019s Teacher Advisors Miss Nikki HAI, together with our alumni coach Miss Bonnie WONG enjoyed seeing the dynamic interactions among students from Primary 5 to Form 5 at the meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Justin LIU (F1) and Jaren LAU (P6) were voted as the Best Prepared Speech Speaker and the Best Table Topics Speaker respectively by all participants.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
