May 5, 2023 saw the 7th meeting of SKHTST TYLP (2022-2023) at our school from 4 pm to 6:30 pm. Our twenty regular TYLP members were joined by 20 primary students from three different primary schools who volunteered enthusiastically in all sections of the meeting and were given souvenirs and certificates at the end of the meeting.
The meeting was honoured to have Ms. Suckey CHEUNG as the General Evaluator. Ms Cheung is the President of Changemakers Toastmasters Club and a Drama-in-Education Educator. She gave an interactive Workshop on “Dynamic Delivery”. Accompanying her was Ms. Jessica LEE, a fellow Toastmasters member and a past President of the United College Club, a Toastmasters Club in CUHK. She and our native English speaking teacher Mr Nathan MARTIN were the Table Topics (Impromptu speech) Evaluator and the Prepared Speech Evaluator respectively while our former Vice-principal Mrs Anne TAM was the Language Evaluator.
As a learning community, participants volunteered or were assigned different roles such as emcee, speakers of prepared or Table Topics (impromptu) speeches, secretaries of evaluators and facilitators (timer and ah-counter).
Hailey WONG (P6) and Yuhan GUO (F3) were voted as the Best Prepared Speech Speaker and the Best Table Topics Speaker respectively by all participants. Sylvia WONG (F5) and Yuhan GUO (F3) were also voted to have given the Best Speech of Prepared Speeches and the Best Speech of Table Topics respectively.
The Inter-School Speech Contest, our 8th meeting, will be held in July 2023.
