Many thanks to Mr. Ron CHAN Long Huen, an experienced pilot of easyJet, for sharing with our students his passion for aeronautics and his experiences as a pilot on 8 April 2024. The participating students gained valuable insights from his personal journey of being a pilot and demonstration on the flight simulator at our STEM & Innovation Centre.

Mr. Ron CHAN provided the students with practical advice on venturing on the career path of a pilot. He emphasized the significance of developing both soft and hard skills required to become a successful pilot, including having backup plans, fine-tuning one’s personality traits, and being able to communicate fluently in English. He also suggested realistic and attainable methods for obtaining professional accreditation in aeronautics.

After the Q&A session, Mr. Ron CHAN gave an in-depth explanation of the flight instruments and demonstrated how to operate them through a state-of-the-art flight simulator at our STEM & Innovation Centre.

Two of our students also gave it a try under Mr. Ron CHAN’s supervision and guidance. They were taught the basic mechanisms of a cockpit and matching the geological features of a landing zone from a plane.

At the end of the session, our students reflected on the sharing and the insights they gained from it. Everyone had interesting conversations with Mr. Ron CHAN.

All in all, this was an incredibly rewarding experience for all parties involved.

Thanks once again to Mr. Ron CHAN for his insightful sharing.
