On December 8, 2024, several alumni and the Alumni Association Chief Advisor, Ms Ho Wai Yin, as well as retired Vice Principal, Mrs Tam, visited the photography gallery of YU Ho Yeung (2000 F7 graduate) at the Hong Kong Arts Centre.
The visitors were much intrigued by the background of Ho Yeung’s photography of the Kazakhs living as nomadic peoples, inhabiting the border regions of Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, and China. The photos show how Eagle Hunting is a cherished tradition among them, whereby hunters capture young golden eagles in the wild to train at home so that when fully trained, the eagles can hunt animals for the families. There are only about 300 eagle hunters in the world today.
Ho Yeung visited them in February 2024 and took precious photos of the families who have passed down the legendary tradition of Eagle Hunting.
Ho Yeung’s photos will be exhibited on our campus from February 10 to February 19, 2025. Our staff and students would be able to view not just photos but get to know a way of living so completely different from theirs.
